Things are already getting nasty over at the BBC, with breakfast host Dan Walker angrily denying he earns more than his co-presenter Louise Minchin.
There were ripples of shock this morning when the broadcaster was forced to reveal the salaries of everyone earning more than 150,000.
And while Dan was listed as raking in up to 249,999 a year, his BBC Breakfast colleague Louise - who hosts the show three days a week - didn't even feature.
But Dan insists he gets paid exactly the same as Louise, who has been presenting the show as a regular anchor since 2006.
According to him, the salary difference comes from the fact that he also presents Football Focus.
He insisted on fighting back after Sky News political correspondent Beth Rigby wrote: "BBC exec asks why @mrdanwalker (200k-249k) & Munchetty (150k-199K) on list but @louiseminchin isn't when she co-presents 3/4 times a wk.
The 40-year-old - who has been doing Football Focus since 2009 and only joined BBC Breakfast last year - swiftly replied, "BBC exec should really know that we get exactly the same for BBC breakfast. I have another job on Football Focus.
Adding to his fury, Piers Morgan also decided to stick his two pence in, inviting his rival to explain himself on ITVs Good Morning Britain.
"Hi mate, would you come on @GMB to discuss your salary today? he teased.
But Dan shot back, "Would love to but I'm a bit busy presenting the nation's number 1 breakfast show with @louiseminchin. Have a good one."
Never one to sacrifice the last word, Morgan sniped, "Is that the one losing viewers at the same rate we're gaining them?
So far, Louise has maintained a dignified silence, apart from responding to a Twitter user who teased her for saying, only one third of the women on that list are women.
Sometimes I know what I mean to say but fail to say it!!!she replied.
