As of 4 August 2026, a case of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) was reported in Tropojë district, Kukës in northern Albania. CCHF cases were last reported in Kukës in 2023. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever.
As of 17 August 2026, a locally acquired West Nile virus infection was confirmed in a blood donor in the Netherlands. Laboratory testing detected the virus in a donor in Utrecht with no recent travel abroad and who remains well. Locally acquired human West Nile virus infection was last reported in the Netherlands in 2020. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on West Nile virus.
As of 15 August 2026, the National Dengue Control Unit in Sri Lanka has reported a total of 92,011 dengue cases and 68 deaths in 2026. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on dengue.
As of 11 August 2026, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported 13,895 confirmed locally acquired cyclosporiasis cases in the USA since 1 May 2026.
As of 14 August 2026, a total of 4,665 confirmed Ebola disease (Bundibugyo virus) cases, and 2,184 deaths, have now been reported across six provinces: Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Tshopo, Haut-Uele and Bas-Uele. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on Ebola disease.
As of 13 August 2026, a case of locally acquired Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) has been reported in Salamanca. As of 10 August 2026, a total of six locally acquired West Nile virus cases have now been reported during 2026 in the Occitanie (Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales) and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse) regions of France.
