This app is much better than recording on the built in iPhone camera app. However, I see no reason why it cant also be used to take photos. The focus tools and other features would be really nice to have when taking pictures on an iPhone. Also, you should be able to set this to open instead of the default camera app using the lock screen shortcut, although this feature I believe is coming in iOS 18. The best thing this app does is that it is free.

Im amazed by the way that this app barely touches battery life! I filmed for almost 10 hours while shooting a wedding and after party. 90% battery only went down to 42% with either recording or camera live on tripod. Im yet to view the video and do the editing so on quality I cant yet comment. But the battery life is way better when using final cut camera compared to the phones built in video function, which drains battery in less than 90 minutes

Great app for accessing advance features without being too overwhelming. However, the configured setting frequently reset or change without user input. Pretty frustrating having to check every time that the settings are as they are needed to be

For the past weeks, Ive been getting into videography. And in these past weeks ive LOVED using this app. The stabilisation feature is amazing, and it even shows how many hours you have to record until your storage is full! I would really recommend this app if you want to make professional grade videos.
