I suggest one way to have a true sense of whats going on in the world you live in is to read The Guardian newspaper. You will find it full of news, thats facts and truth, not someones truth, simply the truth, what has actually happened. You will find some useful analysis of what is happening, how events and themes link together to give a clear picture. You will find this well written and good to read even if what an article describes saddens you, you will have confidence that you know whats going on. You will find background to news, links that illuminate how we got to here. These links are easy to follow and give you a more full and clear picture of whats going on. Another wonderful thing is that The Guardian does not have an axe to grind like some other newspapers, just read it if you seek a better, fairer, more honest picture to explain whats going on. And if you care about sport, money, theatre, music, I could go on and on, you will find journalism by writers who have a passion for all of these and more. If you want your newspaper to speak truth to power, try it.

I enjoy reading your news coverage, generally but think you do a bit too much culture stuff overall. But I like News in newspapers so maybe not to important. My big issue is I find your lack of contextualising the Middle East conflict very disappointing. You are light on the ME conflict and tbh I dont think you do the journalism yourself. Do you contract that out and only do rage against Israel articles? Iran and Qatar are funding and exploiting so many groups against Israel and getting the body count they want to create western rage. You say nothing. I also dont see you questioning why the rage is not directed at far worst conflicts - are you frightened of the professional organised Muslim agitators calling out Muslim violence? I have sadly reached the conclusion that peace with Israel is impossible with the PA and Hamas - they exist to kill Jews. That is in their DNA - call that out. Also no credit is given to the only democratic country in the ME. Cant complain about the coverage of the Israelis in Judea and Samaria they are out of control. There are lots of problems which you cover well with the IDF even though they operate in a fight for their very existence. I am not Jewish btw and actually quite to very anti religious. Your coverage of the ME is populist and borders on anti semitic. I no longer support the existence of a two state solution unless there is a change in the mindset Palestinian authorities

The app itself works great, and Im happy to pay for good quality journalism. So 1-star review pertains to the subscription system which is broken, not the quality of the content. Have had a regular donation to the Guardian for years, but didnt have app access, so increased my subscription fee last June in order to gain access. Was struggling to login with my Guardian login details, so signed in via AppleID. This has resulted in my being charged twice per month, once via Apple and once via PayPal direct to the Guardian. The Apple subscription does not name the app the payment is related to on bank statements so easy to miss that dual payments being taken, particularly as one payment is for 10 and the other 9.99. Have been trying to get a refund all afternoon having been charged twice for months for the same product. Very disappointing, both from Apple and the Guardian. It shouldnt be difficult to alert a customer that they have two accounts with identical email address. And when it is realised that this has been happening, it shouldnt be such a battle to receive a refund. Customer services at both ends didnt give the impression that they cared much about trying to increase safeguards against this happening, so resorting to leaving a public review.
