Emotions were at an all-time high on Thursday night as the sixth series of All Creatures Great and Small began.

The beloved Channel 5 show is back in full swing with viewers returning to Darrowby in 1945, having had a small time jump from the previous series.

Although one cast member has already teased theres drastic changes ahead, it was Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) and Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley) who stole the show.

As the episode began, people learnt Mrs Hall had left Skeldale House to go and be with her son and granddaughter in Sunderland.

However, it was obvious that Siegfried hadnt taken the departure well as the veterinary practice had gone to ruin. With Tristan Farnon (Callum Woodhouse) and James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) deciding to step in, they headed off to Sunderland to have a word with Mrs H, prompting her to return.

As she decided to return, albeit for a short stay, there was an awkward atmosphere as it was clear Siegfried was hurt that she had left, although he took it out in anger and frustration instead.

When Mrs H decided to leave early, believing he didnt want her to stay, she was overcome with emotion leaving the house. As Siegfried, Tristan and James returned to the house and realised shed gone, he confessed: I drove her away.

Prompted to try and get her before the train left, Siegfried rushed over to the station, getting to her just as the train arrived. Running to her in a blockbuster movie moment, Siegfried admitted he had tried to find a replacement, but no one else compared to her.

Asking her to stay if shed like, Mrs Hall was distracted by people celebrating on the platform as she learnt the war had officially ended. At the end of the programme, the village was full of celebration as people discovered Mrs Hall had decided to stay.

Linking arms with one another she admitted: Its good to be back. As he replied: Its good to have you back. It wasnt long before people watching were moved to tears by the duos dynamic, with many taking to X to share their thoughts.
