One step is yours whichever path you take: create an API key in the dashboard and top up the balance with crypto.

Create a key and fund the balance
Create a key under Developers, API Keys (it is shown once) and top up with crypto. The agent can spend what is there and nothing more.
Pick the skill or the MCP server
The skill teaches OpenClaw the API through curl. The MCP server hands it the tools directly and has a play-money sandbox. One is enough.
Store the key outside chat
In OpenClaw's secrets store for the skill, or in ~/.openclaw/.env for the MCP server. The key card spells out both.
Restart and check
Restart the gateway, then run openclaw mcp doctor voidmob --probe or ask for your VoidMob balance. A number back means it works.
Decide what needs your yes

Checks before every charge

Two checks always run at VoidMob: the price you approved and your balance. Two more run inside your MCP server when you set them. A refusal at any of them charges nothing.

When OpenClaw and VoidMob disagree

doctor --probe cannot start the server
The VoidMob MCP server needs Node 22 or newer, and npx has to resolve in the gateway's own environment.
Fix
Run node -v on the host, upgrade Node if it is older, then restart the gateway so it picks up the new PATH before probing again.
The skill's API calls come back unauthorized
The key never reached the request: it was stored without dashboard.voidmob.com as an allowed host, or the egress proxy is off.
Fix
Bind the host with openclaw secrets store set VOIDMOB_API_KEY --allow-host dashboard.voidmob.com, enable secrets.egressProxy and restart the gateway.
Pages opened in OpenClaw's browser still see the VPS address
The managed browser ignores proxy environment variables and only takes a proxy as a Chrome flag, which has no username field.
Fix
Create an IP-whitelist proxy list for the VPS address and pass --proxy-server=http://proxy.voidmob.com:10000 in browser.extraArgs. Check OpenClaw's browser SSRF settings first, since strict mode blocks an explicit browser proxy.
Model calls start using proxy data
proxy.proxyUrl, or OPENCLAW_PROXY_URL, routes OpenClaw's own outbound traffic through the proxy, model API calls included.
Fix
Leave it unset. Give the proxy only to the jobs that need a mobile IP: a list login inside the script, or the browser flag above.

Not yet. Install the skill with npx skills add voidmobcom/voidmob-mcp --skill voidmob -a openclaw -g, or add the MCP server with openclaw mcp set. This page will switch to the ClawHub command once the listing is live.

Skill or MCP server in OpenClaw?

Either works. The MCP server gives OpenClaw the VoidMob tools directly and has a play-money sandbox for a first run. The skill needs no extra process: it teaches the agent the REST API through curl, with the key held by OpenClaw's secrets store. Installing both adds nothing.

Can OpenClaw's browser use a VoidMob mobile proxy?

Only through a Chrome flag. The managed browser ignores proxy environment variables and has no proxy username field, so it needs an IP-whitelist proxy list and browser.extraArgs. Scripts and curl calls OpenClaw runs can use a normal list login instead. Check the SSRF note in OpenClaw's browser docs before relying on the browser route.

OpenClaw does not ask before running a tool by default. VoidMob's MCP server and skill tell the agent to quote the price and wait for your yes, and each buy carries that price. For hard limits, start the server with VOIDMOB_MAX_ORDER_CENTS and VOIDMOB_BUDGET_CENTS, or VOIDMOB_READ_ONLY=1 for search and status only; openclaw mcp configure voidmob --approval prompt adds a prompt.

Does it work when OpenClaw runs on a VPS?

Yes. The skill and the MCP server run wherever OpenClaw runs. A VPS is also where proxies earn their place: its datacenter address is what sites see from OpenClaw's scripts unless a proxy list gives them a mobile IP in the country you choose.

What number should OpenClaw use for WhatsApp or Signal?

A separate one, as OpenClaw's own docs recommend, and one you keep: WhatsApp asks for a code again on reinstall or a new device. A dedicated monthly number fits. Register it in WhatsApp Business and link OpenClaw with openclaw channels login --channel whatsapp, or register it for Signal on the server with signal-cli.
