Some apps will ask for your permission (consent), to use your data to provide additional features. Your devices location or searched location is stored on your device for a period of 4-6 hours, the BBC does not store your information. You can turn this on or off at any time via your devices settings.
Make sure you read the permissions section of any app before you download it. Its the best way of understanding exactly what data it will capture.
