An Essex road has been shut since the early hours of this morning (August 16) due to a burst water main. Crews have attended Stifford Hill in South Ockendon after a burst water main caused flooding on the road.
The burst water main also lifted part of the carriageway. Essex & Suffolk Water has closed the road completely to make sure that the repair can be carried out safely.
It has also confirmed that there should be no impact to water supplies. Teams have confirmed that the road will be reopened as soon as possible.
A spokesperson for Essex & Suffolk Water said: "Our teams attended Stifford Hill, in South Ockendon, in the early hours after a burst water main caused flooding on the road and lifted part of the carriageway. To ensure the repair can be carried out safely, a full road closure is in place.
"Our repair team is on site and is currently carrying out the repair. There is no impact to customer water supplies. We are sorry for the inconvenience and want to reassure residents and road users that our teams will remain on site to complete the repair and reopen the road as soon as possible."
