A pilot has been left with "serious" injuries after a plane crash at an Essex aerodrome. Police have rushed to Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome near Woodham Ferrers this afternoon (August 16).
It is understood that the incident took place during the Stow Maries Air show. Essex Police were first called shortly before 2.25pm on Sunday 16 August.
The sole occupant of the aircraft has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries have been reported. The public have been asked to avoid the area to allow responders to work.
Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome said: "Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome can confirm that there has been an air incident during our Air Show. More information will follow shortly. In the meantime, the Museum is closed to the public"
A spokesperson from Essex Police said: "Those attending the event are urged to follow the instructions of organisers and emergency service personnel. The public are asked to please avoid the area to allow responders the space to work at the scene."
