Essex is pretty lucky to have a whopping 350 miles of extraordinary coastline. Each little bit is truly spectacular in its own way.

But for this secluded Essex beach, it offers breath-taking views and a sandy shoreline rarely seen on this part of the Essex coast. It's relatively unknown too, meaning you're less likely to be disturbed while enjoying the summer sunshine.

Bradwell-on-Sea, a quaint village nestled in the county of Essex, England, is home to a secluded beach that offers breath-taking views and a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The small stretch of beach marks the point where the River Blackwater meets the North Sea - and its an atmospheric find.

Overlooked by monasteries, chapels and oyster sheds, this hidden gem is perfect for those who cherish natural beauty and serenity, providing an idyllic setting where visitors can unwind and soak in the stunning vistas of the Essex coastline. The beach's remote location means it remains largely untouched by the throngs of tourists that typically flock to more popular seaside destinations, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful retreat.

The beach's landscape is characterised by its rugged, unspoiled beauty, featuring sweeping views across the estuary. On clear days, visitors can see for miles, taking in the sight of boats gently bobbing on the water and the horizon blending seamlessly into the sky.

The beach is so gorgeous, its even been named among the best. Muddy Stilettos named it among the best-hidden gem beaches in Essex in 2024. The site said: "Bathed in a cream crush of cockle shells, Bradwells small stretch of beach marks the point where River Blackwater meets the North Sea and its an atmospheric find.

"Overlooked by monasteries and chapels, oyster sheds and layers of salty grey mist, consider this your new go-to hideaway when the weather wont play ball. Why not embrace the drizzle anyway and walk the tides in peace?"

It is a very popular spot for dog walkers and those looking for some peace and quiet. It has some great reviews from locals, too - but people are midly concerned about the snakes sometimes spotted in the nearby woods. Mohammed Islam on Google Reviews said: "Good view. The Chapel Beach car park is a bit too far from the beach.

"Public facilities, such as toilets, cafes are a bit far too (Sea Wall). I would recommend avoiding woods and jungle as adder snakes spotted here (albeit a bit close to rare)."

Local guide Colin Campbell-Austin added: "Although Bradwell Beach isnt packed with amenities, its perfect for those seeking a quieter, more natural coastal experience. We had brought a picnic with us, and there were plenty of spots along the grassy areas to sit, eat, and enjoy the views. Its a very tranquil place, with few visitors, which made it feel like we had the entire beach to ourselves at times.

"Overall, the visit to Bradwell Beach was refreshing and peaceful. Its an excellent spot for a relaxing afternoon, especially if youre looking to unwind with good company. The combination of coastal scenery, fresh air, and quietude makes it a great destination for anyone wanting to disconnect and appreciate nature."
