Photos show inside empty former Popworld nightclub as it goes on the market

It's been several months since one of Chelmsford's most iconic nightclubs turned off the music and closed for good. Popworld in the city centre closed for the last time in August last year.

The huge venue has stood empty for several months since and it's future is up in the air. The prominent unit near Springfield Road and the High Street is currently listed as for let with estate agents Savills

It's listing states the ground floor as the 'principal trading area' with a large open plan space, linear bar serving space, dance floor and DJ booth and seating for around 65 people. The property is also listed alongside the former Walkabout unit which also closed last year.

The venue had operated as a Popworld for around seven years, opening in November 2018 before closing last August. Thousands of people had partied the night away at the popular venue.

The Chelmsford nightclub was Popworld's first in Essex. Located in Springfield Road, it used to be a Liquorist bar which replaced Missoula.

Popworld's closure along with Walkabout, both of which were operated by Stonegate, was one of a number of closures in Essex. Yates closed in Colchester in July after more than 20 years too
