The relatives of a man who tragically lost his life in a Levenshulme park over the weekend have said he will 'never be forgotten' as enquiries into his death continue.
Greater Manchester Police reported they were alerted to a stabbing incident on Chapel Street at approximately 7pm on Saturday (August 15) near Chapel Street Park.
A 24-year-old man had suffered serious stab injuries and, despite the efforts of paramedics, tragically passed away at the location. Police have now identified him as Zherko Rasul Osman, believed to be from Kurdistan, with his relatives receiving support from specialist officers, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Paying tribute, Zherko's brother stated: "My brother was a kind, friendly and loving person who never looked for trouble or wanted to harm anyone.
"He was loved and respected by his friends, his mates and the neighbours in the community where he lived. He had a good heart and would always be remembered for the warmth and happiness he brought to those around him.
"His life was taken so suddenly and for no reason, leaving a pain and emptiness that words cannot describe. We are heartbroken that someone who was loved by so many is no longer here. He deserved to live his life and make memories with the people he loved.
"He will never be forgotten. His smile, his kindness and the memories we shared with him will stay in our hearts forever. We love you, and we will miss you every single day."
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody while being questioned. A 27-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, remains on bail pending further enquiries.
GMP has stated that officers are 'making progress' with the ongoing investigation, and believe the incident to be 'isolated' in nature, posing no wider threat to the public.
Those with information are encouraged to submit it via the police's online portal at: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/06GMP26S54-PO1..
