Jet2 has unveiled an evening check-in scheme across 12 UK airports including Leeds Bradford, allowing passengers with early morning departures to check in and drop off their luggage during a four-and-a-half-hour window the night before they fly.

Under normal circumstances, travellers are expected to arrive at their departure airport a minimum of two hours before their flight, where they must queue at check-in desks to collect boarding passes and hand over their bags.

The budget airline, however, offers a twilight check-in service at a number of airports across the country, allowing passengers to bypass this lengthy process by completing it the night before, thus easing the stress of early morning departures.

Not only can holidaymakers claw back valuable time on the day they travel by heading straight to security upon arrival, but they can also avoid lengthy check-in queues when dropping off their luggage.

Jet2's twilight check-in facility is solely available to those whose flights are due to depart before midday from one of 12 UK airports, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

For eligible passengers, the free-of-charge twilight service runs within a four-and-a-half-hour slot on the evening preceding your morning departure, with bag drop open between 4.30pm and 9pm.

Passengers must also complete online check-in for their flights at any point from 28 days in advance and no later than 24 hours before departure via Jet2's website or app. Describing the procedure, Jet2 stated: "Check in online. You need to do this no later than 24 hours before your flight, but to make sure you don't miss out, we recommend you check in as soon as online check-in opens, 28 days before you travel.

"Drop your bags at the airport. One person in your party can drop off up to six people's bags. Simply take your luggage to the airport between 16:30-21:00 the evening before your flight. Don't forget your boarding passes and passports!".

"Sail straight through to security. On the morning of your flight, bypass check-in and head to security. Relax and enjoy your getaway!".

The following 12 UK airports provide Jet2's twilight check-in service, accessible every day of the week for passengers departing before noon:.

• Edinburgh.
• Glasgow International.

• Liverpool.

• Manchester.
• Newcastle.
