A major global food market with locations in Portugal, the USA and Spain will open its flagship site in the UK. Time Out is set to open its three-floor venue in the first half of 2028 at the gateway of Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street in London's West End.
A selection of restaurants and bars will be spread over 26,400 sqft of space in a Grade II-listed building, curated by the outlet's local editorial team, though the specific vendors are unknown at present. Londons Market will also "reflect the citys energy, diversity and creativity with a year-round programme of cultural events and entertainment" in addition to food and drink, according to Time Out.
The project is part of a wider regeneration by the Crown Estate, meaning that sustainability is at the forefront of developments, with an energy-efficient building, food waste reduction and local sourcing.
Chris Ohlund, CEO of Time Out Group plc said it was "one of the most significant milestones" in Time Outs history.
"London is one of the worlds greatest cities for food and culture, and there is no better location than Piccadilly Circus to showcase everything that makes it extraordinary.
"Together with The Crown Estate, we are creating a destination that will celebrate Londons best chefs, restaurateurs, artists and creators while welcoming millions of Londoners and visitors every year.
"As our global flagship, Time Out Market London will also become the blueprint for the next generation of Time Out Markets, bringing together hospitality, culture, media, sponsorship and live experiences in a way that only Time Out can deliver."
Charles Owen, Head of Regent Street at The Crown Estate, said it was a "significant addition" to the Time Out brand that would further strengthen Regent Street's hospitality offer and help to drive footfall.
The first Time Out Market launched in Lisbon in 2014 and the concept has since expanded to cities including New York, Dubai, Cape Town, Osaka, Budapest and Vancouver. There are currently 13 Markets across four continents.
London's new market is expected to create around 130 local jobs.
