Power shut down in 100-metre radius after Stagecoach bus and car crash

Two people have been taken to hospital following the dramatic crash

Everything we know so far about the crash involving a car and a bus in Shurdington:

  1. The A46 in Shurdington is expected to remain closed for some time following a crash between a car and a bus.
  2. Gloucestershire Police were called to the scene near Cheltenham at around 1.30pm today (Monday, February 2) following a report of the crash by the Church Lane junction.
  3. A road closure has been put in place while those involved in the incident are assessed by paramedics. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
  4. In an update provided by police just after 4pm, they said National Grid are in attendance at the scene of the crash and have shut off power while the bus is recovered. This is to allow a damaged lamp post to be made safe.
  5. Properties within an approximate 100 metre radius of the scene will be temporarily affected.
  6. A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said it sent two double-crewed land ambulances and an operations officer to the scene. It conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Gloucester Royal Hospital.
  7. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam footage and has not yet spoken to police is asked to provide information by completing the following online form and quoting incident 189 of 2 February.
  8. Pictures and video taken from the scene show the Stagecoach bus seemingly having crashed into a hedge on the side of the road, with police, paramedics and firefighters all at the scene.
