A water supplier who supplies water for Gloucester and Cheltenham said that it is still "recovering from weeks of hot dry weather" as it says it hasn't put any restrictions on the use of hosepipes at this time.
Weeks of hot weather has resulted in drought being declared across the country. Following on from the fifth heatwave of the summer, many water suppliers announced hosepipe bans, including several in the South West.
South West Water, Wessex Water and Thames Water have announced restrictions. But Bristol Water, which supplies water for parts of South Gloucestershire, said the area remains without a ban at this time.
Severn Trent, which provides water in Gloucestershire, said it is working to move supplies across the region and treat more water as it said there are no restrictions in place at this time for their customers.
It said that whilst rivers and reservoirs are lower than it would want them to be for this time of year, as the provider doesn't solely rely on reservoirs for water, there isn't a need to put a hosepipe ban in place.
However, it has advised customers to use water wisely in order to "avoid any potential restrictions" as the hot weather continues.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: Weve seen record water demand this summer, with five heatwaves and less than five per cent of the average rainfall across our region, so we understand why the region is now officially in drought status.
"As would be expected rivers and reservoirs are lower than we would want them to be for the time of year which is why saving water is important.
We have no restrictions in place, and we have seen the occasional localised rain shower but we're still recovering from weeks of hot dry weather.
"Our teams are working around the clock, treating more water, moving supplies across the region where its needed and fixing leaks at record levels.
This is why we are also asking customers to think about their water usage and use it wisely, which will help us to try to avoid any potential restrictions as the record hot and dry weather continues.
