About us

The Government Recruitment Service (GRS) was launched in September 2017 and is part of the Cabinet Offices Government People Group.

GRS provides operational delivery as well as specialist expertise, shares best practice and looks for new, innovative solutions to improve the recruitment process and experience.

The service aspires to become the recruitment partner of choice for all Government departments, agencies and non-departmental public bodies. Technology, value for money, customer experience and the needs of a changing Civil Service are the pillars on which we continue to build and create.

GRS is run by civil servants for civil servants, with an in-depth understanding of how government works. We support recruitment for all roles and grades, including Senior Civil Servants, and have privileged access to and a deep understanding of the recruitment experience, best practice and compliance with Civil Service codes and regulations.

Our service offer is built around customer needs, with the flexibility to take on as much or as little of a recruitment campaign as you need. We offer a personal service, which includes a dedicated account manager, and are able to supply robust data to recruiting departments.

As a service, we have a commitment to continuous improvement to make sure that our customers are offered the latest in recruitment and candidates get the best experience.

Our experienced Occupational Psychology team offers the latest in assessment and selection techniques, which includes accessible and research-driven online tests to support the selection of suitable candidates at the sift stage.

We are also at the forefront of digital developments, supporting the transformation and implementation of a new Civil Service Jobs site to ensure hiring managers and applicants have a consistent, streamlined and positive experience.
