Advice to government on building a sovereign AI chip design industry in the UK.
In July 2025, the Council for Science and Technology (CST) provided advice to government on how the UK can build a sovereign AI chip design industry. CST made 6 recommendations, covering the skills and training requirements for chip designers, finance and investment for industry, and the access to infrastructure and technology the UK would need to build to achieve this.
The word 'Catapult' has been replaced by the word 'Company' in the phrase 'Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Catapult Fin Field effect Transistor (TSMC FinFET) University program' due to it being a typo. The change was made both in the html and the pdf versions.
