Popular discount retailer Aldi has announced plans to open a new store in North East Lincolnshire and it has a very specific location in mind.
The German supermarket chain famed for its middle aisle specials already has more than 1,000 stores across the UK, but it has big plans to get to more than 1,500 in the future. And that includes opening more stores across the Humber region starting with North East Lincolnshire.
Aldi bosses have confirmed they are looking to secure sites for new stores in the region as part of its continued UK expansion, with one particular area in mind. At present the company has a number of stores in the area, including three in Grimsby, one in Immingham, as well as stores in Brigg, Louth, Scunthorpe and Market Rasen.
Now it has its eye on opening in Cleethorpes, somewhere on Middlethorpe Road. The firm said the expansion will also create new jobs in the area.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why were focused on identifying the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store.
Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay.
The plans forms part of Aldis wider UK expansion, with the supermarket investing over 370m in new stores this year alone as it works towards its long-term target.
Bosses said Aldi is seeking freehold, leasehold or long leasehold sites in prominent locations with good visibility and access, and is encouraging landowners and agents to come forward with suitable opportunities. Anyone with a site that may meet Aldis requirements should contact realestateacquisitions@aldi.co.uk
