Hull fish and chip shop celebrates after being named best chippy in the region

A much-loved Hull chippy has been named the best in Yorkshire.

The accolade came as the winners of the 2026 English Fish and Chip Awards were crowned. The victors were named at a big event held in Manchester.

Jims, in Shannon Road, has been named Best Fish and Chip Shop in Yorkshire and the Humber. The team from Jims posted on Facebook about their success in the awards.

They stated: It still hasnt quite sunk in that our little chippy won Best Fish and Chip Shop in Yorkshire and the Humber. In a tough category full of big names we went with no expectations and are so proud to have come away with the trophy.

Elsewhere in the post, they stated: A great big Thank You to all our customers for your continued support over the years. You really make our local chippy what it is.

Chippies across Yorkshire honoured in the competition, including Withernsea's The Golden Haddock which won the Best Family Run Business accolade. An awards spokesperson said: Celebrating excellence, tradition, and innovation in Englands most beloved industry. Few dishes capture the nations heart like fish and chips - golden, crispy, and steeped in culture.

These awards honour the dedicated friers, family businesses, mobile operators, and innovators keeping this proud tradition alive. We have seen businesses, from across the region, enjoy success in the competition.
