Air fryers have become one of the most sought-after kitchen gadgets on the market today, and it's easy to see why. They're fast and straightforward to operate, and because they require far less oil than conventional cooking techniques, they offer a healthier approach to meal preparation.
If you own an air fryer, you'll be well aware that regular cleaning is essential. A build-up of food residue in the basket doesn't just spoil its look it can also reduce efficiency and even increase the risk of fire.
However, keeping it clean needn't be a chore, as there's a straightforward method that requires no scrubbing and takes just 15 minutes, reports the Express.
TikToker Neal_Cleans encouraged people to 'work smarter' when tackling air fryer maintenance. She explained that the most effective way to keep your appliance performing well is to clean it after each use.
While this may seem over the top, it's actually far simpler than you'd imagine. You'll only need two common household items, one of which you're almost certain to have already.
In her video, she said: "I've tried a few methods but this one is my favourite."
For a spotlessly clean air fryer with no stubborn food remnants clinging to the base, all you need is a squirt of washing-up liquid and some bicarbonate of soda.
If you haven't got any bicarb to hand, Neal suggested picking some up for as little as 1.37. Sprinkle it into your air fryer once it's switched off and cooled down, then add in whatever washing-up liquid you have available, followed by some boiling water.
Allow it to soak for 15 minutes to do its job, then give it a swift rinse. You should find that food residue lifts away without the need for excessive scrubbing, making this the ultimate fuss-free cleaning hack.
Neal said: "I find this method means I rarely ever need to scrub anything. A 15 minute soak isn't going to give you a brand new air fryer if you haven't touched it in a year, but for regular cleans it does the job."
She then spritzed some Elbow Grease onto the outside of the air fryer and gave it a thorough wipe down to eliminate any dust or fingerprints, and the task was complete.
