Tragedy as man, 50s, dies at busy Galway train station after medical emergency

It is understood the man was travelling with family at the time of the tragic incident

A man has died after suffering a serious medical emergency at a train station in Co Galway.


The tragic incident occurred at Ceannt Station in Galway city shortly after 7am on Friday morning, August 7.


Emergency services rushed to the scene after the alarm was raised on Friday morning, but despite the best efforts of the medical personnel, the man sadly passed away.


The man, who was in his 50s, was travelling with family at the time of the tragic incident, Galway Beo report.

Staff at the busy train station who were at the scene provided the victim's family members with every possible care they could following the tragic loss.


Irish Rail confirmed that a medical emergency occurred in Ceannt Station this morning as they offered their condolences to the mans family.

A spokesperson for Irish Rail said: "A customer had a serious medical emergency at Ceannt Station Galway this morning.

Emergency services attended, and despite medical assistance from paramedics, he sadly passed away."

The spokesperson added: We extend our deepest sympathies to the mans family, with whom he was travelling. Station staff on site provided family members with care and assistance arising from their tragic loss.
