Two men have been arrested after garda seized more than 230,000 worth of cannabis following a major search operation in Co Galway.
As part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the region, Garda attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit conducted searches of two residences in Galway on Saturday 15th August 2026, seizing a total of 233,000 of suspected illegal cannabis.
During the course of the operation, Garda conducted a search under warrant of a residence in Roscam, where cannabis herb with an approximate value of 122,000 was seized.
During a follow-up search under warrant of a residence in the Castlepark, Galway area, a further 111,000 of Cannabis herb was seized.

Two men (one aged in his 40s and one in his 50s) were arrested in connection with the investigation and are currently detained pursuant to section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug trafficking) Act 1996, at a Garda Station in the North Western Region.
The seized substances will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.
A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
The raid was part of Operation Tara, which targets the sale and supply of drugs in the area.
Operation Tara is an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by the Garda Commissioner in July 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
