A woman has died and three others have been hospitalised after a fire broke out at a house in west Belfast in the early hours of Saturday morning.
At approximately 3.55am, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) received a report of an ongoing fire at a property in the Areema Drive area of Dunmurry.
Officers attended the scene alongside their colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the fire.
Sadly a woman, aged in her 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man aged in his 50s, a 19-year-old woman, and 11-year-old girl who were also in the property, were taken onward to hospital for treatment to smoke inhalation.
A PSNI spokesperson said in a statement: "Officers are continuing to conduct enquiries into the circumstances of the fire. At this stage, however, it is not being treated as suspicious."
Tragically, this is the third house fire fatality in Northern Ireland within the past 24 hours.
It comes after police were notified of a fire in the Queen Victoria Gardens area of north Belfast at around 11am on Friday morning.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the blaze but, sadly, a man aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another fire occurred in the Abbey Park area of Bangor, at around 12.30pm on Friday afternoon. The fire was again extinguished by Fire & Rescue Service, but a woman aged in her 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding both fires; however at this stage, it is not believed that the deaths are suspicious.
