Scarlett Faulkner family update as they are thankful for 'prayers and well wishes'

A 17-year-old girl and 40-year-old woman are now charged with the death of Scarlett following an alleged assault on the R494 at Birdhill, Co Tipperary

The family and friends of Scarlett Faulkner, the mother of one who died after suffering catastrophic injuries in an alleged attack, have thanked the public for "all your prayers and well wishes."

Their message comes after a woman and a teenager appeared in Nenagh District Court on Wednesday, July 15, charged with the murder of the 29-year-old.

The murder charges were brought following directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 17-year-old girl and 40-year-old woman are now charged with the death of Scarlett following an alleged assault on the R494 at Birdhill, Co Tipperary on March 21.

The teenager, who cannot be named because of her age, had previously been charged with assault causing serious harm but that charge was withdrawn.

The 40-year-old woman, who cannot be named as a court order is in place, had previously been charged with violent disorder and endangerment. Those charges have been withdrawn.

The woman has now been charged with murder and two counts of burglary.

The book of evidence in both cases is due to be served at Nenagh District Court on July 23. The DPP has directed that the cases will then go to the Central Criminal Court for trial.

After the new charges were brought against the teen and woman, family and friends of Scarlett took to social media to thank everyone for all your prayers and well wishes.

They also thanked the gardai who were with the family throughout.

The Faulkner family remained dignified through this heartbreaking time, a family friend wrote.

A sister of Scarletts wrote: My beautiful baby sister, you're missed so much every day by us all, especially your one and only baby girl Oceanna.
