Scott It was great to be back in a room for an in-person demonstration. It feels a little awkward to say, but it's true. It was a reminder of what our industry used to be like, something many of us quickly forgot. Scott Grenz from COMvergence kindly agreed to come and present in detail what you can get from comvergence.net. What I appreciated most, beyond Scott taking the time to meet with us, was their philosophy: under-promise and over-deliver. I was looking for insights into in-house budgets with modest expectations. And guess what? The country-by-country opportunities list is more than extensive enough to keep me busy for months pursuing new business prospects. This is what I love about our industry. The job I do today and the solutions available to do it are very different from when I joined RTL AdAlliance seven years ago. It makes the journey incredibly interesting because there is no playbook. Your role becomes what you make of it to achieve the company's goals. And nobody can really tell you exactly how to do it because many paths to success are either completely new or unique to your organisation. I had no expectations when I first spoke with Olivier. I had no expectations when we organised the breakfast event in July. Yet I found myself embracing an "expect the unexpected" mindset, one that I particularly enjoy. Olivier and Scott surprised me not only with their kindness, but also with a genuinely valuable tool. As a reminder, this is what they offer the industry: COMvergence provides agencies, brands, and publishers with a unified, real-time intelligence platform built around its agency roster database. It delivers net media spend data, client-agency relationships, agency assignments, and in-housing status across markets and holding groups. For agencies, it offers competitive and pitch intelligence, including account ownership, spend levels, digital share, in-housing scope, and a highly accurate pitch predictor. It also provides benchmarking and rankings frequently cited by trade publications and consultants. For brands, it delivers an independent and granular view of their own and competitors' media investments and agency structures by country, category, and channel, supporting better pitch decisions, agency governance, and strategic in-housing considerations. For publishers and platforms, it identifies which advertisers and agency networks control budgets, where accounts are managed, which relationships are under review, and which brands are bringing channels in-house. This enables more targeted sales strategies and smarter prioritisation by category, market, and growth potential. Thank you, Olivier and Scott, for everything you bring to our industry. We are fortunate to know you both.

Olivier It was a pleasure to host Olivier Gauthier, Founder and CEO of COMvergence, for a breakfast discussion in New York on the structural trends reshaping the global media agency landscape. One thing I really appreciate is when things come together in a simple and professional way. Olivier is that kind of person. When he says yes, it means yes. Not just words, but action. Reliable people make collaboration easy, and I value that tremendously. What did we learn today, apart from my need to clearly indicate which floor the event is taking place on? Understanding where our industry is heading starts with understanding the data. For those unfamiliar with COMvergence, it has become one of the industry's leading independent sources of intelligence on media agencies and advertisers. Its platform covers more than 50 markets and more than 22,000 advertisers, with insights gathered from over 1,000 media and digital agencies worldwide. The result is one of the most comprehensive and objective views of global media investment and agency dynamics available today. A few takeaways stood out: The market has increasingly consolidated around a "big three" of agency groups, which now manage approximately 80% of relationships with the world's top 100 advertisers. Even more striking, around half of those advertisers work exclusively with a single holding company. Independent agencies and digital specialists continue to gain influence, representing roughly one-fifth of global media spend. Their strength is particularly visible across search, social, commerce and retail media, where expertise increasingly outweighs scale. The United States remains the industry's key battleground, accounting for a significant share of global media spend under review and agency pitch activity. What happens in the U.S. often shapes strategies around the world. In-housing is not replacing agencies. Instead, brands are building hybrid operating models, bringing selected digital capabilities in-house while relying on agencies for strategy, consulting, data, commerce, technology and increasingly AI-enabled services. It is less about replacement than about redistribution of value. One of COMvergence's most fascinating innovations is Pitch Predictor, which uses statistical models to identify advertisers most likely to review their media agency relationships over the next 12 to 18 months. It is a powerful example of how predictive analytics can transform business development from reactive to proactive. Whether you are an advertiser, an agency, a media owner or a technology partner, having an independent view of market dynamics is no longer a luxury. It is becoming a competitive advantage. A big thank you to Olivier and his colleague Scott Grenz for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who joined us for a thoughtful discussion. Looking forward to the next one... and I promise to get the floor number right.

The Convergence of Ad Tech, Media & Commerce The final panel at COMvergence's 10th Anniversary Conference explored how the lines between ad tech, media and commerce continue to blurand what this means for advertisers and agencies. Moderated by Brian Wieser (Madison and Wall), the discussion examined how platforms are evolving beyond their traditional roles to become media owners, data providers and performance engines, while AI is accelerating more direct, integrated ways of buying through publisher partnerships. A key takeaway: ad tech is no longer just an enabler of mediait is becoming a driver of innovation, creativity and measurable business outcomes. As platforms continue to evolve, the focus is shifting from delivering services to delivering value. Moderator: Brian Wieser, CFA (Madison and Wall) Panelists: Richard O'Sullivan (InMobi Group), Chris Keenan (StackAdapt) and Niklas Hedberg (Camphouse). #COMvergence #AdTech #MediaInnovation #AI #CommerceMedia #DigitalAdvertising #MarketingTechnology
How are media pitches evolving? One of the standout discussions at COMvergence's 10th Anniversary Conference brought together industry leaders from Abintus, Advise Media, Ebiquity, PwC France and Encyclomedia International to explore how agency pitches are changing. Key takeaways included: Success is increasingly measured by business outcomes and ROI, not just media KPIs. Outcome-based remuneration is gaining momentum as clients seek greater accountability. Pitch processes are becoming shorter, more focused and more collaborative. Advertisers are looking for business transformation partners, not simply media agencies. AI capabilities, governance, contracts and integrated operating models are now central to the pitch process. The conversation made one thing clear: the future of pitching is about creating measurable business value through stronger, more strategic partnerships. Moderator: Nick Manning (Encyclomedia International) Panelists: Tatjana Slykova (Abintus), Marino Vukovi (Advise Media), Nicola Chatterton-Sievers (Ebiquity) and Li-Da Fu (PwC France). #COMvergence #MediaPitches #AgencyManagement #MarketingEffectiveness #BusinessTransformation #Advertising #MediaIndustry

A timely and insightful perspective on what's next for our industry. #COMvergence #MediaOutlook #MediaInvestment #BusinessIntelligence #WPPMedia #Advertising #MediaIndustry
At COMvergences 10th Anniversary Conference, one message from the HoldCos panel came through clearly: media in-housing is no longer a binary choice. The most effective operating models are increasingly hybridbalancing clients need for data access and decision-making control with the scale, talent, technology and market expertise of holding companies. Capabilities may move in-houseor back out againas business needs evolve. AI could make these hybrid models even more effective by reducing the real or perceived loss of scale associated with in-housing. The question is no longer, Should we in-house? Its: What belongs whereand why? Thank you to moderator Steve King and panelists Hamish Davies, Shenda Loughnane, Jodie Stranger and Neith Jauregui Morete for a thoughtful discussion. #COMvergence #MediaInHousing #MediaAgencies #FutureOfMedia
