Work on the next phase of the major Wirral Waters scheme has officially begun. The construction of almost 100 new waterside homes is now underway.

Peel Waters, alongside joint venture partners Qualis Developments and Forshaw Group, has commenced work on the second phase of Redbridge Quay, delivering 90 new waterside homes on the Dock Road in Birkenhead. After being granted planning permission earlier this year, the project will consist of 84 one-bedroom and six three-bedroom apartments across six four-storey buildings.

This follows a number of recent developments as Wirral Waters builds momentum. For example, work is also set to begin on the construction of MEA Park West, an 18m employment space on land east of Wallasey Bridge Road.

James Whittaker Managing Director of Peel Waters said: This is another big moment for Wirral Waters. Getting spades in the ground for the next phase of Redbridge Quay shows the pace at which this regeneration is now moving.

Were not just talking about transformation anymore - were delivering it. Across Wirral Waters were seeing new homes, jobs, education and leisure all coming forward at once, and thats what creates a place with real energy and staying power.

What makes this work is partnership. Our relationships with Qualis Developments and Forshaw Group are built on a shared ambition to deliver at scale and at pace, and thats exactly what were doing here and across our wider portfolio. This next phase at Redbridge Quay is another step towards making Wirral Waters one of the UKs most exciting waterfront districts.

Lyndon Forshaw, CEO at Forshaw Group, said: Starting on site at Redbridge Quay phase two is a great milestone for all of us involved and a strong example of what partnership-led regeneration can achieve.

Working closely with Peel Waters and Qualis Developments, were bringing forward a scheme that combines high-quality design with deliverability and waterfront living - creating homes that are not only well built, but part of a wider, sustainable neighbourhood.

Weve built a strong track record together, and thats what allows us to move at pace on complex sites like this. The start of construction here at Wirral Waters, alongside progress on projects like VIVERE in Manchester Waters, shows what can be achieved when theres a shared commitment to getting schemes on site and delivered. Were looking forward to seeing Redbridge Quay take shape and playing our part in the continued growth of Wirral Waters.

Cllr Mark Skillicorn, Chair of Wirral Councils Economy, Regeneration and Housing committee, added: The start of construction on this latest phase of Redbridge Quay is another important milestone for Wirral Waters and the wider regeneration of Birkenhead.

Creating new homes on previously developed brownfield land is a key part of our ambition to bring forward sustainable growth, and what is particularly encouraging is the way Wirral Waters continues to grow as a place. Alongside housing, we are seeing investment in jobs, skills, education, leisure and business opportunities, helping to create a vibrant waterfront neighbourhood, as well as showing the positive impact regeneration can have across the borough, and how it contributes to Wirrals long-term economic growth.
