Coronation Street fans were left confused by Nina Lucas' impending exit as her whereabouts were explained during the latest visit to Weatherfield.

Those who follow the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, will be aware that actress Mollie Gallagher will soon be bowing out of the programme after six-and-a-half years in the role of Roy Cropper's niece.

After making her debut in 2019, Nina became a popular character, leading to her being involved in one of the long-running show's biggest storylines.

The hate crime storyline, which claimed the life of Nina's boyfriend, Seb Franklin, resulted in Mollie picking up the National Television Award for Serial Drama Performance.

Several years on, last month, it was confirmed that Mollie will be bowing out of the programme so she could make her stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of The Silence of the Lambs.

With Corrie fans now expecting to see Nina leave Weatherfield, there was some confusion during Monday's (August 17) editing of the soap, with Jodie Ramsey seen covering for Nina in Roy's Rolls.

When she made some digs about her demeanour when behind the famous cafe's counter to customers, Alya Nazir and Adam Barlow, Jodie explained that Nina was 'living it up' in Whitby.

As there was previously no explanation about Nina's sudden disappearance, the news came as a surprise to Corrie fans, who were quick to think that was her exit.

@Audz32129841 said: "So has Nina left, surely she deserved a send off from her friends and Roy and Carla #Corrie." @Fake_TV_Chef questioned: "Is that it? Has Jodie just told us that Nina is gone permanently now? Also, why does every scene in the caf show Jodie working there? Did the writers forget that Roy let her go weeks ago? #Corrie."

@J_WBerry replied: "I know, I wondered that. Was Nina's official exit, and she's not even there?!" @Hazelscrivens added: "So Nina has just gone #corrie no goodbye scenes, no hugs with Roy, just a comment from Jodie."

However, Nina will be back in upcoming scenes, and according to previously released spoilers, after returning from Whitby, Nina tells Roy she's certain she blew her interview at the art gallery. However, later at the Rovers, Nina receives a message from Ruby at the gallery offering her the job.

And in new spoilers, for next week's episodes of Corrie, Nina is seen leaving the cobbles behind, as they reveal that she says goodbye to her friends before heading to Whitby with Roy.
