Aubrey Plaza's Life After Beth co-star Dane DeHaan has paid tribute to her husband, Jeff Baena, following his tragic death.

The Parks and Recreation actress' film director husband died aged 47 this week. The LA County Medical Examiner's Office recently confirmed that he took his own life at his Los Feliz residence in California. The Little Hours director's body was discovered by his assistant at 10:25 a. m. on Friday.

His family have told Deadline that they are devastated by the heartbreaking news and are asking for privacy at this difficult time. Baena worked on many hit movies, including The Little Hours and Life After Beth - both starring his wife. Life After Beth is a 2014 comedy film with Dane DeHaan playing Aubrey's love interest.

Following Baena's tragic death, DeHaan paid tribute to him on his Instagram Stories. The actor posted a solemn black-and-white image of the director from Collider which read: "Jeff Baena. 1977-2015." Life After Beth also starred Criminal Minds star Matthew Gray Gubler, Molly Shannon and John C Reilly.

When asked about writing and directing the movie, Baena said to Seensome in 2014: "Its all I ever want to do; it felt really comfortable and fun. Ive been a writer for twelve years now and it was always a means to an end, I never wanted to be a writer, I wanted to be a director so this was always my intention and it felt right."

The White Lotus star Plaza, who was due to present at the 82nd Golden Globes Awards, married the director in 2021 after being together for a decade. In May of that year, The White Lotus actress casually dropped the news of their marriage in an Instagram post shared with followers.

"So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble [devil emoji]," she wrote as the caption as announced they were working on a movie called Spin Me Round. The duo first crossed paths in 2011 when she auditioned for Life After Beth.

Collaborating both on and off screen, they later came together for several films, including Joshy (2016), The Little Hours (2017) and Horse Girl (2020). Baena also frequently collaborated with Alison Brie.
