Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt 'reconnected' and enjoyed 'private lunches' together

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt are said to have enjoyed "lunch dates" together. The former couple left the world shocked when they divorced in 2005 after seven years together.

Jennifer, 57, and Brad , 62 hadn't been spotted together for more than a decade and it was speculated that the star left Jennifer for his now ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, who he starred opposite in Mr & Mrs Smith.

But at the 2020 SAG Awards, everything changed as the couple was snapped reuniting. Despite being ex-husband and ex-wife, Brad reached for Jennifer's hand as he walked away. It was years after he split from Angelina, and Jennifer had been divorced from Justin Theroux for two years.

After this meeting, the pair reconnected and exchanged phone numbers. It's claimed that Brad sent the first text message before the pair enjoyed lunch together while Jennifer was filming The Morning Show.

Sources claim that Jennifer's on-set trailer provided the perfect opportunity for the pair to spend time together and reconnect. Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source claimed: "During season 2 of The Morning Show, Brad was coming to set and having lunch with Jen in her trailer.

"He would arrive and get dropped directly at her trailer for a private lunch just the two of them, and then he would leave once filming for Jen resumed." The source claimed that Brad would visit Jennifer at least once a week, sticking to his planned times.

But other sources claim that the former couple also met up at Jennifer's house, away from prying eyes. "Jen and Brad got together a number of times. Mainly at her house. They couldn't be seen out in public together," a source said.

The source stressed that Jennifer and Brad's bond was nothing more than platonic, and no romantic feelings were involved. The source added: "He genuinely enjoyed reconnecting with her, spending time together away from the spotlight and just being friends, having private lunches was just really nice."

Meanwhile, Jennifer is said to be one of the "few people" Brad feels he could trust. They added that his decision to reconnect with Jennifer was "one of the best decisions he has ever made."

Brad and Jennifer met in 1998 after being set up by their managers, following Jennifer's split from Tate Donovan and Pitt's engagement to Gwyneth Paltrow ending. Their relationship was kept under wraps before they made their red carpet debut at the Emmy Awards the following year.

By November of the same year, they had become engaged. July 2000 saw the pair exchange wedding vows in front of 200 friends, relatives and co-stars at a stunning ceremony in Malibu. During their vows, Jennifer promised to make Brad his "favourite banana milkshake".

Just two years later, they launched their own production company, Plan B, which became more than a hobby, with the firm being responsible for 17 films, including Troy, released in 2004, starring Brad.

Jennifer also spoke openly about wanting to start a family with Brad, telling The Guardian in 2004: "It's time. It's time. You know, I think you can work with a baby, I think you can work pregnant, I think you can do all of it." However, the picture-perfect relationship started to unravel just months after.

After welcoming in the new year in January 2005, they announced their split, with Jennifer filing for divorce two months later. She told the press she was "shocked" by the split and was "lovely" and "upset", adding that "problems happen" in relationships when couples stop "growing together."

The Mirror has approached representatives for both Jennifer and Brad.
