Alex Warren has exposed Chappell Roan's true colours after she approached him following his Grammy Awards malfunction. The pop singer, who is known for his chart-topping single, The Ordinary, began independently releasing music in 2021 before signing with Atlantic Records the following year.
The song led to the 25-year-old being nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2026. He was also invited to perform at the show, but suffered severe technical difficulties which led to him feeling "horrified".
He reflected on the experience during the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with Alex Cooper, which was released on Wednesday, March 11.
He said: "They're [counting down] 30 seconds. I said, 'I can't hear anything. I can't hear myself.' The guy's like, 'it's live TV, twenty-five seconds.' I go, 'Guys, something's wrong.'
"In my head, I look up [at] the sky, and I go, 'this is meant to happen', and I just go, 'let's do it'."
Despite all the rehearsals and sound checks going well, when Alex started walking towards the stage the technical issues continued, and he struggled to find his cue. Alex explained on the podcast that he believed there were issues due to the number of mobile phones in the venue.
Following the performance, Alex explained that he didn't want to sit back down in the venue and spent the rest of the night with his head on his wife's shoulder and was "distraught'.
He said: "The whole entire Grammys, my head was on my wife's shoulder. I did not want to look up. I did not want to talk to anybody. It was horrifying. I was like 'my career is over.'"
Alex went on to explain that Pink Pony Club singer, Chappell Roan, saw how distressed he was and approached him in his seat.
He said: "Chappell 100% saw that I was like just distraught and she came up to me. She was like, 'Dude, if anyone understands, it's the people in this room, and you sounded amazing,'.
"And I will never forget how sweet she was because of that."
People commented on the podcast video to compliment Alex on how well he dealt with the technical difficulties at the Grammy's.
One person said: "Alex seems like the sweetest person ever, rooting for him!! So impressive how he handled the situation at the Grammys."
A second added: "The Grammys fiasco was definitely supposed to happen, at least thats what made me a fan. You champed through it, killed it and I had to look you up!."
A third said: "I had heard Ordinary before but never really paid much attention until I watched his Grammy performance, he was truly amazing. Ever since then I have had his music on repeat!!"
