One Emmerdale star has suffered a horrific injury whilst renovating her home, landing her in hospital. Katie Hill, who plays Sarah Sugden, was rushed to A&E after stepping on a nail.

Katie, 23, shared the news with fans on Instagram, as part of a plea to her followers. She hoped that someone would be able to fit her in for a nail appointment as her hospital visit prevented her from attending the one she had booked in.

This may be a long shot but are there any nail techs in Leeds that could fit me in either tomorrow or Wednesday?" she asked over a picture of her nails. "Had to cancel my appointment today due to stepping on a nail and having to go to A&E, house renovation going well. She joked with a crying face emoji.

She later added another picture, thanking fans for sending her supportive messages: "All sorted now :). Thanks everyone who reached out, much appreciated! Xx"

Katie has been playing Sarah since 2017, taking over from Sophia Amber Moore, as ITV felt they needed an older actress so that Sarah could go through a more mature storyline. The storyline in question saw Sarah go through Fanconi anemia, need a bone marrow transplant and become involved with a drug dealer.

Sarah is now the adoptive mother of Leyla Sugden, whose biological mother is Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins). Charity is currently married to Mackenzie Boyd, who is played by Lawrence Robb.

Lawrence Robb was announced as part of this year's Strictly Come Dancing line up. When he was announced, Lawrence said: "I don't know whos more excited about this, me or my Mother.

"I can't quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time! It's a dream come true, and I can't wait to bring my all to ballroom. Wish me luck, and any advice is very welcome - trust me Ill need it!

Lawrence is best known for his role in ITV's Emmerdale as Mackenzie 'Mack' Boyd, now a popular member of the show's iconic Dingle family. Since joining the series six years ago, Lawrence has been at the centre of many of the shows most explosive and talked-about storylines affairs, kidnap, murder, and this year's landmark Coronation Street crossover series, Corriedale.

Some have criticised his participation in Strictly as he has had some dance training whilst at drama school. This year, nine of the 15 celebrities have experience under their belts, including Lawrence, Cach Mercer and Lacey Turner.

It means around 60 per cent of this year's cast have previously danced, attended stage school, studied performing arts or taken part in stage productions. However, there are no rules preventing celebrities with previous dance experience from taking part in Strictly.

An insider told the Mirror: "There is no rule that celebrities cannot have dance experience before taking part and it would be near impossible to find a cast of celebrities who have no previous dance experience as many people in the entertainment industry go to stage school."
