James Jordan is launching a new midlife project

James Jordan ditched his wedding ring a month in promotion for his brand new work project, as his shock split from Strictly star, wife, Ola made headlines this weekend. The professional dancers sent shockwaves when it was revealed they had called time on their marriage after 22 years.

James, 48, confirmed the news of the 'incredibly painful' split last night, admitting that he has been struggling with his mental health in recent months. The star alluded to some 'dark times' in his statement, saying he'd been dealing with "very difficult personal challenges" in an emotional outpouring.

The star is now seen launching a 'midlife help' project with two of his pals with close links to Strictly. James says the new show tackles the men's health issues that 'no-one is talking about'.

He presents 'Manopause' with Brendan Cole

In a video shared last month, which features preview clips and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the 'Manopause' show - which James will present with Strictly pal Brendan Cole - the star is seen without his wedding ring.

The dad-of-one is seen filming podcast interviews with guests including former Strictly contestant Wynne Evans, who left the Strictly tour under a cloud after reportedly making crude comments about his Strictly co-stars. Former Apprentice winner Lee McQueen also makes a cameo.

The Manopause series says it promises to 'tackle the men's health issues that no one talks about but every man needs to know about'. In the preview, James says it is 'about men in midlife, anything you want answered, anything you want to speak about let us know'.

In a statement released this weekend, the ballroom star explained how his 'mental health hasnt been in a good place for quite some time'.

Following his split with Ola, the couple's joint statement began: "After 26 years together, this is something we never imagined we would be sharing. Following recent reports in the press about our relationship and after receiving messages asking if everything is okay, we feel its important to speak directly rather than let speculation or hearsay tell our story.'

"We have always tried to be open and honest with the people who have supported us over the years and we feel its only right that this update comes from us.'

"At the moment were taking some time apart as we work through very difficult personal challenges. (James) moved out of the family home some time ago. This has been an incredibly painful and emotional journey for us both and it certainly wasnt an easy decision."

They went to say their 'absolute priority' is their daughter, Ella, six, with James admitting: "Speaking personally (James) my mental health hasnt been in a good place for quite some time. Ive been struggling more than Ive let people see and Im taking the time I need to focus on getting myself into a healthier place, both for myself and for Ella."
