A celebrity bodyguard has died in a motorcycle collision. Mason Haynes, who had worked for Kim Kardashian, her ex-husband Kanye West and her boyfriend Lewis Hamilton, was just 52 at the time of his death.
Haynes died at the scene of the crash, on the A287 Farnham Road, on Saturday, July 4, leaving another person with serious injuries. Two drivers have since been arrested. Hampshire Police say that the crash involved a BMW X3, an LDV Maxus motorhome and two Harley-Davidson motorbikes.
The driver of the BMW has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving and drug driving. Meanwhile, the driver of the motorhome was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving.
Both have been released under investigation pending further inquiries. Mason died just two days before his 53rd birthday. UK security firm Trogan Security UK confirmed the sad news and paid tribute to the bodyguard.
They said: "We would like to pay homage to an absolute legend in the Close Protection game. Big Mason. Gone too soon. Rest easy and fly high, Brother."
Another pal shared a post on Instagram which read: "The recent and tragic death of a friend has reminded me that tomorrow is never guaranteed and that life is to be lived to the fullest."
The post was accompanied by a picture of Mason and Kardashian matriach, Kris Jenner, during a trip to Paris in 2015. The caption added: "RIP Big Mason." Mason had also worked with Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian.
It's claimed he was also working closely with Lewis Hamilton until his death. Mason's career was something out of a movie he worked his way from pubs and clubs as a bouncer, to working for some of the most famous people in the world, travelling to 115 countries, 22 of which were in Africa.
He was also working with Kim when she became the victim of an armed robbery in October 2016. The businesswoman was in Paris for a fashion event when armed men stormed her luxury apartment, held her at gunpoint, tied her up and locked her in the bathroom before stealing millions of pounds worth of jewellery.
Speaking about the terrifying incident, Mason previously said: "I can't go into much detail about that; I was part of that team, and that incident was simply a set of unfortunate circumstances which led to something bad happening."
Reflecting on his relationship with the Kardashians, he once said: "Trust builds. It's such a close relationship, and that's what makes it so unique."
Other clients of Mason's included Kate Moss, Sir David Beckham, Sabrina Carpenter, Beyonc, Sienna Miller and ABBA in 2022. He previously stated he became a bodyguard to keep others "safe" after enduring being bullied as a child, which resulted in him being hospitalised.
Following his death, Mason's family have launched a GoFundMe to support his wife and children after the tragic news. They said: "The funds raised Will ensure Mason gets the send-off he truly deserves - a celebration of a life that touched so many people.
"Beyond that, they will help ease some of the immediate financial pressures that inevitably follows such a sudden and devastating loss. Your support will give Fay and their family the time and space to grieve, heal and begin rebuilding their lives, without Fay having to make impossible decisions that she could never have imagined she would have to face.
Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We are investigating a collision in which a motorcyclist has sadly lost their life. I would ask that any witnesses, or anyone with dash camera footage of any of the vehicles involved, whether prior to or at the time of the collision, to come forward to assist the investigation."
"Our thoughts remain with all those affected by the collision, in particular the families of the two motorcyclists, one of whom is seriously injured, the other who sadly passed away."
Mason is survived by his wife Fay, his daughter Brooke and son Noah. You can donate to his GoFundMe by clicking here.
