Love Island's Jasmine shares true feelings about 'jarring' Lorenzo situation

Love Island runner up Jasmine Muller has shared how she really feels about winner Lorenzo Alessi after many viewers 'struggled to accept' that they were 'just friends'

Now she's out of the villa, Jasmine Muller is revealing how she feels about Lorenzo Alessi, amid Love Island fans hopes that Jasrenzo will be a real couple in six months time.

Jasmine, 27, and Lorenzo, 28, were initially coupled up together on Love Island, but after Lorenzo started to lean more towards Priya Jaswal and Jasmine towards Kavan Murphy, the two's relationship became platonic. However, the flirty banter and strong connection that remained between Jasmine and Lorenzo had many talking about an 'affair' between the two, with some predicting that the pair would wind up back together.

Speaking with Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo on their Newly Parents podcast, Jasmine shared that she thought the producers had intended for her and Lorenzo to be a couple.

"I think the feeling that I got was like they put Lorenzo in there for me," she said. "And we coupled up straight away. I feel like I saw that vision there, but like it was there was something missing always."

She added that nothing felt like it was missing when she met Kavan, 21, despite their age gap. But when Sophie asked about whether Jasmine understood where fans were coming from, she admitted that she understood "how it can look". Sophie pushed further, asking if it was "difficult that people struggled to accept" Jasmine and Lorenzo "were just friends".

Jasmine answered: "Yeah, I think at a certain point it just got really jarring. Like, started to annoy me, and I think it started to annoy [Kavan] too. We were just like, this is so boring because, it genuinely was [just a friendship] from my side.

"I can't speak for Lorenzo. I don't know how he feels, but from my side, the minute it became a friendship, it was a friendship. I never went really look back. Even like the flirty jokes for me was just like part of my character. I'm like flirty and stupid and silly when I'm not with someone, like that would never happen now.

"But at the time, I was like, 'It's just who I am. Like, I can just be silly and flirty.' And it didn't mean for me anything deep. So yeah, the platonic thing, like that, people trying to push that on me. I was like, 'Guys, this is jarring'. And still now, I feel like people want to say that, and I'm like, 'Is this still a thing?'"

Both Lorenzo and Jasmine made the final two on Love Island in their respective couples. Lorenzo was coupled up with Julia Majchrzak, who some fans thought Jasmine did not get on with. This came after Julia pulled Jasmine for a chat to say she did not trust her around him.

Jasmine admitted that there was "tension" between Julia and her, as well as the OG Islanders. She explained: "I think where we started to struggle, maybe as like a girl group, was like what we were quite good at doing is the emotional reading, the intelligence part of it. If someone was feeling something, you kind of just like stop. You take a breather, and we'd be like, 'Okay, we'll talk about this later. It's not that big of a deal. This is minor. I love you.'

"Whereas I think sometimes with Julia, I think the hard part was that she maybe didn't necessarily clock. Like you're kind of hurting someone now. Like this is maybe not the time. So that's where it started to go sour."

But she made it clear that they squashed any feud they might have had by the final: "We spent so much time together off camera, like those days up until the final and after, before flying out, we were all together, and there's no beef at all, it's so minor, do you know what I mean? We've all lived this experience together, like we all get it."
