Fans of megastar Taylor Swift may not realise she once appeared in a hit sitcom.

The pop icon was one of many big names who made a guest appearance on the series New Girl. Spanning seven seasons, the show centred around teacher Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) and her adventures sharing an LA loft apartment with three single men who are trying to find their way in the world.

Over the course of its run between 2011 and 2018, the heartwarming show saw an array of cameo appearances from major stars such as Prince, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Fox and even Gordon Ramsay.

Taylor made a brief appearance in the second season's finale in the role of Elaine. Her character is the ex of CeCe's (Hannah Simone) fianc, Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), who crashes their wedding day and ultimately runs off with the groom.

The iconic cameo appearance has recently come back into public consciousness thanks to actor Max Greenfield's appearance on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast. The star, who portrayed Jessica's womanising flatmate Winston Schmidt, let slip what it was really like sharing a set with the hitmaker.

"Taylor wasn't quite yet Taylor," he began. "But I remember she was on set and we were hanging out, and she was so kind."

He continued: "She was, like, a better actor than all of us. And I remember asking her, I said, 'Can I ask you a question?', she was like 'Yeah, sure.' And I go, 'If you could play to an intimate audience or a big arena, what do you prefer?'

"And she goes, without missing a beat, she goes 'If you could fill the ocean with people I'd like to play for that'." He revealed that her response left him completely speechless, while host Jake Shane agreed that it was "the most incredible response."
