It is almost 30 years since the death of Tupac Shakur stunned the world and police could be close to finally uncovering what really happened to the hip hop star.
For decades, his murder went unsolved but now former LA gang leader Duane "Keffe D" Davis is standing trial. He denies the charge of orchestrating the killing the drive-by shooting near the Las Vegas Strip in September 1996 that claimed the life of the rap superstar.
Tupac - real name Lesane Parish Crooks - was shot four times and died seven days later from internal bleeding. The official cause of death was later recorded as respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest associated with gunshot wounds. The music world went into mourning.
Soon, the three-decade long wait for answers could end.
After being arrested in 2023, the trial of former gang boss Duane "Keffe D" Davis awaits. The 68-year-old is accused of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole.
For many of Tupac's fans, the trial provides the chance for a little closure. But there are some who still refuse to accept he is actually dead and some are still speculating that he is alive and well. Here are some of the more bizarre claims.
The go-to conspiracy theory when it comes to the death of a legend is that it actually didn't happen at all.
A friend of the late rapper, Too Short, claimed almost a decade ago that his pal had faked his own death, admitting: "I believe Tupac didn't die."
When quizzed if he believes the hip hop legend is still alive Too Short, who's real name is Todd Anthony Shaw, told Vlad TV: "I'm just saying that not every politician did not die of car crashes and some of them got killed. Some of those plane crashes were deliberate.
"So spill s**t over to hip hop it is a possibility. Believe me, it ain't just open and shut."
He isn't the only person to make this claim either, with Michael Nice, who claimed he was part of Tupac's security team before his death, also claiming to have played a part in faking the rapper's death.
Perhaps one of the strangest claims sees the star supposedly selling DVDs in a market in Glasgow, Scotland.
In 2019, a source told the Mirror: "Ive seen Tupac alive, hes working in the Barras market in Glasgow selling DVDs!"
Along with living the life in Scotland, Tupac is said to have been seen with a number of big stars
It was previously claimed by website Huzler that the rapper had been seen outside of a nightclub and posing with pop star Beyonc.
Meanwhile, 50 Cent has also supposedly been pictured with the late legend but it is unknown where the photo of the pair appearing to pose together originated from.
Unearthed news footage from 2011 of Occupy Wall Street in New York has been analysed by conspiracy theorists, who point to Tupac allegedly wearing a yellow rain poncho in the background.
The 'rapper' only appears for a matter of seconds but it is enough for many to enhance their theory that he hasn't died and has, instead, made a new life for himself away from the spotlight.
In the clip, the person that is claimed to be Tupac, is seen looking straight at the camera before disappearing into the crowd.
The same person then reappears a few seconds later but this time they are obscuring their face with a hood before dancing back out of shot.
