Vanilla Ice asks Steven Spielberg to make movie about mystery of missing horse Shergar

Rapper Vanilla Ice has called for director Steven Spielberg to make a movie about the famous missing racehorse Shergar.

The American one-hit-wonder, who topped the charts with Ice, Ice Baby in 1990, was brought in to make the seven-part series because of his long-held fascination with horses.

The singer-turned property-developer - real name is Robert Van Winkle - has made an in-depth BBC podcast about the famous racehorses disappearance, describing it as the most amazing story ever.

Van Winkle says: My fascination with horses is very deep, since I was a kid Ive always been fascinated with just the look of a horse. Looking out across a field, the tranquillity of it and seeing a horse there is just beautiful.

He said that no other story compared to the mystery of Shergars disappearance, believed to be by the IRA who wanted funds to buy weapons at the height of the Troubles.

Van Winkle examines this theory and also some of the many conspiracy theories about Shergars disappearance, which came after hed won the 1981 Derby.

Its so deep that the minute you start absorbing what really, actually happened and to know this is a true story - it sounds like something that couldve been made up in Hollywood, he says.

This story just intrigues you, its like a really good book you cant set it down. You start asking questions, Well, what happened next?

It needs to be a Hollywood movie, a big one too and if its been done it needs to be redone. This needs to be a big Hollywood blockbuster, top star, top producers, Spielberg needs to come on and do this.
