More Football Manager fans than ever will get a chance to try out the next instalment in the long-running sports sim thanks to a new initiative launched by developers Sports Interactive. As work on FM26 came to a close in recent weeks, Sports Interactive has turned attention to their next project.

After a disastrous launch for FM26 last November - which also followed a gap year for the first time in the series' history - Sports Interactive scrambled to fix bugs and issues on a near weekly basis. After finally stabilising FM26, the studio has now announced plans for playtesting FM27.

Sports Interactive is opening up the early playtest to a 'wider group' of fans to coincide with in-house testing. Having partnered with FirstLook to handle the sign-ups and waitlist, Sports Interactive has offered an opportunity to play early development builds of FM27 in order to report bugs and offer feedback before launch, traditionally in the late Autumn.

In a new statement, a spokesperson said: "We understand the need to ensure feedback is heard ahead of the next FM, in sufficient time to be reviewed by internal teams. So, we are bringing our playtesting experience into a new era, partnering with FirstLook, allowing you to register your interest to play early builds through the final stages of development.

"Learning from previous programs and user feedback, for FM27 we are opening our playtesting opportunities to a wider group, allowing more of you to help us shape the development of the game, starting in the coming weeks. Playtesting enables players early access to development builds of FM27, featuring new features and improvements.

"All that we ask is that you play as much as possible and provide feedback, respond to surveys, along with reporting any bugs you find. The internal teams will then utilise this feedback to make further changes going forward.

"Alongside this online testing, were conducting in-studio playtesting, collaborating with players who have consistently provided useful feedback on FM, be it positive or negative. Selected members of the community are being contacted by the SI Community Team, giving us a broad range of feedback in different environments to help inform the studios plans. "

How to sign up for FM27 playtesting

Gamers keen to try out the playtest can register their interest and join the waitlist via FirstLook today. During the sign-up form, fans will be asked about their FM experience as Sports Interactive attempts to curate a pool of players with a varied history with FM.

Registering interest does not guarantee entry into the program, as all submissions will be reviewed by Sports Interactive. Those who are successful will also get access to exclusive testing spaces on the Sports Interactive forums and Discord channel.

This will allow those successful playtesters to interact with others and the Sports Interactive Community and Development Teams. Anyone interested can sign up via FirstLook's special FM27 portal.
