GTA 6 boss reveals which pre-order version is more popular - and its not the cheaper one

Gamers are digging deep into their wallets to pre-order the more expensive version of GTA 6, publishing boss reveals.

Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of GTA 6 publisher Take-Two, has revealed which version of the game has been pre-ordered the most spoiler alert, its the most expensive one.

On June 25, 2026, the floodgates opened for GTA 6 pre-orders. Rockstar Games revealed the long-speculated price, with the Standard Edition costing 69.99 in the UK and the Ultimate Edition setting shoppers back 89.99.

Despite the higher price tag, it seems like more shoppers are digging deep for GTA 6 with the Ultimate Edition proving the more popular of the two pre-orders, Zelnick explains. When asked which way the pre-orders are leaning in an interview with CNBC, he says, Actually, it is skewing more to the premium edition.

That might be a reflection of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering now."

The Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 includes a pretty hefty stack of content thats otherwise inaccessible in the Standard Edition. That includes:

Its not currently clear how these Ultimate Edition bonuses will work will the shops appear boarded up or closed for the Standard Edition owners, for example?

Gamers should know that there will be an Ultimate Upgrade Pack available at launch. So, if you pre-order the Standard Edition and change your mind later, it wont be too late to upgrade your edition for a flat fee of around 20.

We might get a few more details as to how this Ultimate Edition will work at the GTA 6 Extended Look trailer, which is premiering first on Netflix on August 27 at 8pm BST. The video will become available to view for free six hours later on Rockstars YouTube channel.
