Parents praise simple yet genius Elf on the shelf idea that needs no preparation

A mum has been praised for her clever activity she planned Elf on the Shelf, and it doesn't need any preparations to recreate yourself.

For many parents or caregivers, Elf on the Shelf can seem like more of a hassle than enjoyment, but many will still do it to see the excitement on their kids' faces every day. But that doesn't mean that it can be tiring to come up with new ideas for the elf to do every single day in December up until Christmas Day, as many claim the elf has come from the North Pole to help Father Christmas keep an eye on the kids to see if they end up being naughty or nice.

With this, the elves might also come up with some pranks or cheeky activities for the kids to wake up to every day, which often leads to a laugh of disbelief from the kids. However, coming up with these activities can get more difficult as the month goes on.

To help, parents often take to social media to share what their elves have been up to in their homes as a way to give inspiration to other families' elves.

Now, one mum named Kelsey has been hailed as a genius as she went on to share the unexpected moment their family's elf, named Buddy, headed off on an adventure early in the morning one day, which her kids loved.

At the start of her TikTok post, Kelsey shared the note that Buddy the Elf left to her kids one morning, as he decided to see what their dad was up to each day.

"I went to work with daddy! But shhh, he doesn't know! Check the doorbell camera," the sign read, which was also signed by Buddy the Elf.

The video then cut to the footage from the doorbell camera, where the dad in question is seen leaving their home to head to work at Costco, having Buddy the Elf sticking out from his rucksack as he looked excited for his day out.

Kelsey then showed photos that the dad had taken of his work day with Buddy, which included Buddy having gotten his own Costco employee ID, which showed that his work title was 'Santa's Elf'.

Buddy was then busy working at one of the in-store computer stations before helping the others with adding stock to the store. He was even spotted driving a fork lift in the stock room before doing a workout on the Peloton bike in the store before it was time to head back home after his busy shift.

Several people soon took to the comment section to share their thoughts, as many praised the mum for the clever idea.

"I love when dads get involved with the elf!!! This is so great lol," one person wrote, while another viewer said: "My husband leaves for 3 weeks at a time so this would be a nice break for me."

A third person said: "Oh Im 1000% making my husband take the elf to the fire station, thanks for the idea!!"

Meanwhile, another parent said: "This is great but my kids would ask to check the camera every night to see if they could catch him going to the North Pole."
