If you're out bright and early and want something cheap and filling, Wetherspoon is always a good bet. There are more than 800 branches of the pub chain across the UK, all of which serve a wide range of food and drinks at affordable prices.
And one TV deals expert has explained how to save a bit of money on breakfast if you're popping in early in the day. Jordon Cox, the self-styled 'Coupon Kid', is well-known for his money-saving expertise, and has appeared on ITV's This Morning to provide some handy tips on getting the most for your money.
He recently posted on clip on Instagram explaining how to save money on a breakfast from your local 'Spoons. One of the most popular items on the chain's morning menu is the large breakfast, which includes two fried eggs, bacon, two Lincolnshire sausages, baked beans, three hash brows, a mushroom, and two slices of toast.
Jordon said: "Never buy a large breakfast at 'Spoons. It will cost you 11.14 for a large breakfast and two drinks. Instead, order two breakfast muffins. That has all the meat included and two drinks for 6.18."
Wetherspoon's Breakfast Muffin includes a fried egg, a Lincolnshire sausage, bacon, and American-style cheese on an English muffin, as well as a drink.
Jordon continued: "Now, it is missing three hash browns, beans and toast, but you can pick up three hash browns for 1.63." Holding up one of the muffins, he added: "This can be used as toast, and no one really wants beans anyway."
Prices vary by location, meaning the total price and saving may not match up exactly with what Jordon outlined. He reiterated the method in the caption of the post, writing: "This HACK saves 5 on a Spoons breakfast.
"Instead of ordering a large breakfast and a couple of drinks (which costs 11.14), order two breakfast muffins (which INCLUDES a drink each) for 6.18. It gives you all the meat and eggs that youd have in a large breakfast!
"Now it is missing three hash browns, toast and beans but you can buy three hash browns for 1.63 under the extras menu. The muffin bread can be used as your toast. And does anyone really have beans? Itll still work out way cheaper if you did it like this."
Notably, Jordon didn't mention the mushroom which comes with a large breakfast but isn't included in his alternative order, although it does include two slices of cheese on each muffin, which isn't part of the large breakfast.
But people in the comments all said the same thing. One said: "'No-one wants beans anyways. On a cooked breakfast?! Of course people do! Its like having egg and chips, without the egg!"
Another wrote: "You had me all the way until your frankly offensive comment about beans." And someone else said: "Beans are the key ingredient in a fried breakfast wouldnt want one without them."
A different user said: "EVERYONE wants beans!!!" And another wrote: "If you dont have beans, what will you mop up with the toast/muffins? Absolute travesty."
But a different user added a tongue-in-cheek hack of their own. They said: "I always have a pocket full of hot beans just in case." And another suggested: "Just eat food off of other people's tables and scream when you get caught out. Its great. It literally works for me 25 per cent of the time."
