A popular crisp has been recalled for UK customers due to a potential health risk. A recall notice has been issued for packets sold at Home Bargains.

Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps may pose a risk for some customers due to undeclared ingredients. The crisps contain milk and wheat (gluten), which are not mentioned on the label.

The 125g packets were sold in Home Bargains stores across the UK, and the recall affects all best before dates up to and including October 31, 2026.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "The product contains milk and wheat (gluten), making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease."

It added: "If you have bought this product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from which you bought the product for a full refund or contact support@home.bargains if you require further information."

ASR Solutions Ltd has issued the recall and has been advised to contact relevant allergy support organisations. The company has issued a recall notice that will be displayed in Home Bargains stores.

It said: "If you have bought Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps as detailed above and you have an allergy, intolerance or sensitivity to milk or wheat do not consume it.

"Instead, check if you have brought the affected best before dates. Only these codes are affected."

The notice urged customers affected by the recall to return the product to Home Bargains stores for a full refund. It added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The FSA explained: "Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product).

"Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert."

It is not the only crisps to be recalled in recent weeks. Doritos was subject to a recall notice because they may have been filled with the wrong product containing milk, which is not listed on the label.

The recall affects 140g packs of Doritos Chilli Heatwave with the batch code GBC 209 184C and a best before date of December 5, 2026.

Some packets may contain Tangy Cheese seasoning, which includes milk that is not listed on the label. The FSA is advising anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, "do not eat it".

The FSA added: "Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For more information, or to receive a full refund, please contact PepsiCo Consumer Care Line on 0800 274777 or visit contact.pepsico.com/walkers." The recall is England, Scotland and Wales specific.
