As the weather warms up and the spring bank holidays draw closer, many of us will no doubt be planning to make the most of our extra days off somewhere with outdoor seating. Most people already have their favourite pub gardens or parks to head to on sunny days to enjoy a drink or two, but it's always a great excuse to discover somewhere new.
If you've got children in tow, however, finding somewhere that's genuinely family-friendly with plenty to keep the little ones entertained can be a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, one woman reckons she's stumbled upon London's 'best' Wetherspoon pub.
The beloved pub chain is renowned not only for its pocket-friendly prices and crowd-pleasing menu, but also for popping up in the most surprising locations. The brand has built quite a reputation for transforming unconventional buildings from former cinemas to old banks into welcoming pubs.
And this London Wetherspoon is no exception. Mum Heather has been singing the praises of the Coombe Lodge in Croydon, and it's easy to see why.
"Not wanting to start a Wetherspoon war, but our local has an orangerie," the mum of two wrote on the overlay of her TikTok video, which went on to show off the pub in question.
The venue is housed in a Grade II-listed building, originally part of the Coombe Estate, dating back to the mid-18th century, with a large 19th-century conservatory for guests to enjoy.
Heather's clip followed a family making their way through the historic building towards the rear, where a stunning secret garden awaits, complete with tables for guests to relax and enjoy their food and drinks.
The garden is nestled amongst woodland, which Heather revealed was laced with gorgeous bluebells.
Once the family had settled at a table, her two daughters wasted no time finding entertainment leaping from a small platform down a slope, gathering daisies, and dashing about the family-friendly space while Heather sat back and enjoyed a well-earned drink.
She wrote in her post's caption: "Talk about a family friendly Wetherspoons, [it] even had an Orangerie!? Found it scrolling and saw it was less than 15 min drive so we had to try it out! Truly a little SE London hidden gem nestled around woodlands laced with bluebells."
"You'll find us here on a sunny day from now on," she added.
Viewers were quick to share their reactions in the comments, with many left thoroughly impressed by the pub.
"This was yesterday! I remember seeing you there - I'm right behind you with the coral yoyo! Such a lovely day out!" one person wrote.
"Love a bit of Coombe lodge," a second person wrote, while a third user commented: "You win, no competition."
