A woman was heartbroken after being kicked out of her brother's wedding party because she's "too large" after having three children. She explained how her younger brother had originally asked all three of his sisters to be bridesmaids after getting engaged to his fiance, who he had been dating for just four months.
Taking to Reddit, she said: "My brother is very close to all of us and was super excited to tell us we were all going to be bridesmaids. He was telling us how excited he was when we helped him with his proposal."
The family, who live in Utah, are Mormon, meaning the couple will have a small temple ceremony before holding a larger reception for family and friends. However, around a month after the engagement, she began to suspect something had changed.
After her brother shared the wedding colour palette in the family group chat, she asked who had been chosen as bridesmaids and groomsmen, believing the colours were intended for the wedding party.
Although he read her message, he never replied. She later discovered through her younger sister that only one of the three sisters had actually been chosen as a bridesmaid.
While she admitted she was initially disappointed, she understood it was ultimately the couple's decision. But things took a more upsetting turn when her sister showed her a private message allegedly sent by the bride explaining why the other two sisters had been excluded.
She said: "It said I wasn't part of the wedding because I am 'too large'. I am about 15lbs overweight due to having my third child six months ago.
"My other sister couldn't be part of the wedding because of her piercings."
She admitted the comments left her devastated, adding: "It clearly hurt my feelings even more. It also hurt that my brother was too cowardly to tell me I wasn't part of the wedding.
"Me and my sister don't 'look' good enough for the wedding party."
As if that wasn't enough, she later discovered the colour palette wasn't just for bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Instead, every guest had been asked to follow the strict dress code - including children.
She explained: "The colour palette was for all the wedding guests, including children, down to exactly what colour tie my sons should wear and that they must have suspenders.
"I'm not part of the wedding, but I'm expected to buy new clothes that fit into three approved colours for me, my husband and our three children.
"It's all just bugging me and blows my mind how weddings have become so superficial."
