'I got married at 1pm and was single again by 8pm after finally learning truth'

A groom has revealed how his wedding day turned into a devastating disappointment, leaving him single before the evening had even come to an end - while guests remained unaware of what had happened for weeks

While most couples hope their wedding day will mark the beginning of a long and happy marriage, one groom's plans came crashing down just hours after saying "I do".

A wedding guest recalled how a newlywed couple's relationship fell apart before they had even had the chance to leave their reception, after the groom reportedly discovered his bride had been sexting a colleague throughout their big day. The guest shared the story on Reddit, explaining that the bride had been drinking heavily when her phone began repeatedly lighting up with notifications.

According to the guest, the groom eventually picked up the phone and discovered a series of messages that left him questioning everything. They wrote: "I went to a wedding where the bride got drunk, and the groom picked up her phone and saw that she was sexting a coworker during the entire wedding."

The discovery reportedly came as the celebrations were in full swing, with the couple's guests taking to the dance floor. Rather than continuing with their evening plans, the groom is said to have decided to bring their wedding to an abrupt end.

The guest claimed he told the officiant not to file the marriage paperwork. They added: "They did not go on their honeymoon and they returned the gifts to everyone."

The guests were reportedly left unaware of what had happened for several weeks, as the bride attempted to save their relationship.

However, the guest wasn't sure about the legalities of the marriage and whether simply asking the officiant not to submit the paperwork would be enough to prevent the couple from being legally married.

The story prompted many reactions online, with users praising the groom for seemingly avoiding a lot of paperwork. One user said: "Guy saved himself a bunch of money on the divorce."

Another user added: "That's some quick thinking, telling the officiant to discard the paperwork. I would be so furious I wouldn't think logically like that."

'I left my wife 24 hours after our wedding'

The groom isn't the only one to have taken off his wedding ring soon after saying his vows. Another husband-to-be shared how he filed for divorce just 24 hours after his wedding.

Sharing the horror story, the brides cousin explained how she attended a lavish wedding between two childhood sweethearts in their mid-20s - and how their love story now serves as a warning to those who know them.
