I cleaned my bathroom sink with Zoflora and Pink Stuff one made it shine and smell incredible

I put two of the nation's most popular budget bathroom cleaners to the test to see which one was superior - and there was a clear winner

The two cleaning products can be bought from most good supermarkets

Let's be honest nobody actually enjoys cleaning the bathroom, but unfortunately that doesn't change the fact it needs doing. It's one of the most essential household chores around, but that doesn't make it feel any less tedious.

Despite only living in a two-person household, I'm constantly amazed at how quickly the bathroom descends into chaos within just a few hours. Nowhere is this more apparent than around the sink, which sees so much daily use that it needs a wipe-down virtually every single day.

Toothpaste smears, stray eyelashes, soap residue and all manner of other grime can build up around the basin and tap, making the entire bathroom look grubby.

Given that cleaning the sink is a never-ending task, the least you can ask is that your chosen cleaning product smells pleasant as a small reward for your efforts. Naturally, it also needs to perform well, cutting through stubborn stains and leaving a sparkling finish.

So this week, I put two budget-friendly multipurpose cleaners head-to-head to determine which performed better on the bathroom sink.

I regularly reach for Zoflora and the Pink Stuff spray throughout my home, yet had never actually put them to work on the sink. Both are very wallet-friendly Zoflora set me back around 2.70 from Home Bargains, while the Pink Stuff was even more of a bargain at roughly 99p and both claim to tackle a wide variety of cleaning challenges.

While each had their merits, one came out on top. Here's how I got on.

Pink Stuff

I started with the Pink Stuff spray, which I purchased for the first time earlier this year to tackle my kitchen sink. It turned out to be my favourite of the two products I tested, so my expectations were high for the bathroom sink as well.

It claims to be 'tough on grease and grime' leaving 'shiny clean results'. This was certainly the case when I cleaned the draining board, and best of all it smells fantastic - what's not to love?

It's incredibly straightforward to use - simply spray onto the sink, taps (and behind them, which I always seem to forget) and wipe away with a cloth. On this occasion, there was hair everywhere, along with the usual toothpaste stains that seem to mysteriously appear every morning and night.

I really dislike standing and scrubbing at stubborn marks, but thankfully I didn't need to, as they lifted straight off with one swift wipe of a cloth. After cleaning the basin and the taps, I used a separate cloth to dry it off, and the results were thoroughly impressive.

However, while the Pink Stuff spray does smell wonderful while you're using it, the scent disappears fairly quickly, which I'd say is the only significant drawback of this method.

Zoflora

A few days later, once the sink was suitably dirty again, I got to work with the Zoflora. This product became enormously popular during the pandemic thanks to Mrs Hinch and rightly so - it's incredibly versatile, and I've always got some variety of it stashed in the cupboard.

I've been loving using it to clean my floors recently, as it leaves behind such a gorgeous smell - Midnight Blooms, to be exact. It's pretty strong so you have to dilute one capful in a spray bottle full of water before you use it in certain areas.

The Zoflora also left my sink gleaming - but it had a slight edge over the Pink Stuff(Image: Nicola Roy)

Exactly the same as the Pink Stuff, I sprayed it on, and let it sit for a moment before wiping away. This product also left a gorgeous shine without the need for any heavy scrubbing, but in my opinion, Zoflora was the clear winner.

The scent is honestly unlike any other cleaning product on the market. It's so luxurious and smells far more like a high-end perfume than a disinfectant.

It's really not difficult to understand why Mrs Hinch's devoted followers were snapping these up in bulk during the pandemic.

Not only does it smell absolutely incredible while you're using it, the fragrance also lingers for hours afterwards, which is one of the key things I look for in a cleaning product. My bathroom retained a wonderfully fresh scent long after I'd finished cleaning.

And perhaps most importantly of all, being a disinfectant, it apparently kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses - you really can't go wrong. You can pick it up for around 2.70 at Home Bargains, or The Range for 2.79.
