Aldi to sell 150 'garden baths' from Sunday August 16

The weekend brings a unique item on sale in the middle aisle

Aldi shoppers are used to all sorts of items being featured in the middle aisles of the supermarket, but the supermarket very rarely sells baths. However, Aldi shoppers won't be getting their hands on the typical tubs that go in the bathroom. The store will start selling a bath you put outside instead, which could help people with certain medical conditions.

The Crane Premium Ice Bath will be arriving in Aldi stores this weekend as part of the newest SpecialBuy refresh. On offer for 149.99, customers can bring home a tub that claims to be big enough for two people to use.

Describing the bath online, Aldi said: "Refresh your body. Refocus your mind. Experience the power of cold water immersion." The discount supermarket claims that the bath is "suitable for two people" and is "perfect for a winter ice bath".

The 150 set, available later this week, includes the bath itself as well as a pump, filter pump with lid, carry bag and repair patch. Previously, Aldi sold a single Ice Bath for 24.99 - so this new option serves as an upgrade for those who take their ice baths seriously.

What are the benefits of an ice bath?

Ice baths offer a way for people to practice cold water immersion. According to health experts at Bupa, plunging into water that is colder than 15C has been linked to easing sore muscles, lowering swelling, speeding up physical recovery after hard exercise, and boosting mental alertness by releasing endorphins.

People should be aware that cold water immersion can trigger some dangerous side effects, such as cold water shock, arrhythmias (heart rhythm disorders) and hypothermia. It is important for anyone wanting to include this in their health and wellness routine to build up sessions gradually to help the body adapt to the cold and lessen the risk.

Cold water therapy wont be suitable for everybody, despite what the internet may claim. If youre concerned about how cold water therapy may affect you, discuss it with your GP before trying it.
