Protect hair from chlorine, salt water and fading on holiday with 26 hair mask that's the only thing Ill use

If youre worried about sun, sea and chlorine ruining your hair on holiday then this protective hair mask is a must-pack that makes sure it stays soft and stops colour from fading

One of the best things about being on holiday is getting out in the sun and spending your time alternating between swimming in the sea and lounging by the pool. But one thing that fares less well abroad is your hair, which can end up dry, faded and damaged by the salt water, chlorine and intense sunshine.

If youre fed up with ending each day with frizzy, straw-like hair, then this protective hair mask from Philip Kingsley is a must-pack. The Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask doesnt just restore your hair when you wash it, but it actually protects it while youre enjoying your holiday.

Priced at 26 for 100ml or 39 for 200ml, the Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask was originally designed for the US Olympic synchronised swimming team to protect their hair from damage caused by constantly being in the pool. It contains UV absorbers which protect coloured hair from fading under the sun, and uses hydrolysed elastin to give your strands strength and body and protect them from chlorine and salt water.

Its suitable for all hair types including locks that are chemically treated or coloured, and reduces the appearance of breakage and damage by plumping up each strand. To give it more hydration, the Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask contains castor oil and olive oil, leaving hair feeling silky, soft and shiny.

Apply it to damp hair before sunbathing or swimming, then wash it out at the end of the day. Some users say you might need to do a double shampoo to make sure its fully washed out, as its waterproof nature can make it cling to your strands. Another great option is Umberto Gianninis Swim Proof Leave-in Protection Hair Cream which is just 8.95 and works in a similar way to the Philip Kingsley mask.

For something to use after youve washed out the protective mask, this Sun Bum Hair Mask is packed with nourishing ingredients like sunflower oil and banana pulp to help re-hydrate dry, damaged hair. If its frizz thats your biggest holiday hair woe, Color Wows Dream Coat Supernatural Spray is another haircare staple your suitcase needs, creating a protective veil over your hair that prevents frizz and flyaways and leaves it looking shiny and healthy, even in humidity and rain.

However the Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask has gotten rave reviews from shoppers, who rated it 4.8 stars out of 5. One said: The only thing Ill use for protecting my hair colour from chlorine and salt water. Have tried other products and nothing feels as good as this. Wont be without it.

And another agreed: This product absolutely revolutionised my holiday hair! I wish I had discovered it years ago. It made my hair look great and prevented my vibrant red colour from fading with the sun, chlorine and sea. Amazing!

Some were less impressed with the formula, writing: Unfortunately, this mask didnt work well for my hair. I have thick, long hair, and it left it feeling overly greasy. It also took several washes to remove the residue completely. Im not sure Ill continue using it, as the results werent what I was hoping for.

But others absolutely loved Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask , saying: This is great as Ive just started swimming regularly and my hair is very fine. It was getting very dry but this leaves it soft and conditioned.

And another also praised: Brilliant product. Protects hair from chlorine and makes it easier to wash after swimming.
