Bebe King's family escape to 'happiest place on earth' amid Southport anniversary

The parents of little Bebe King said they have escaped to the happiest place on earth in Florida to make new memories a year on from the youngster's tragic death

The parents of the youngest victim of the Southport attack have said her 'laughter and sparkle' are with them in 'every step' on their first family holiday without her. Little Bebe King was just six when she died in the horrific knife attack on a dance class full of little girls in July last year.

Now her parents, Lauren and Ben, have shared pictures from their first family holiday without their daughter, after launching 'Bebe's Hive' to help support grieving children. The family have left Merseyside for Disneyland Florida to 'escape' the pain of losing Bebe, a year on from her death.

In a post on Bebe's Hive instagram, the couple said: "As you all know, August was unimaginably hard for us last year. "This year, weve come to the happiest place on earth to try to escape it and make memories with family. "Bebe isnt here with us in the way we wish she was - but her light, laughter, and sparkle are woven into every step we take.

"Shes here in every smile, every ride, every moment of joy we hold on to "We carry her light with us, wherever we go. Always and forever." The family have adopted the symbol of a bumble bee to immortalise Bebe, and as they stepped out in front of Disneyland Florida's iconic Universal globe, they wore matching t-shirts and bumble bee headbands.

Alongside Bebe, Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven and Alice da Silva Aguiar, nine, were also killed in the attack when sick teen Axel Rudakubana, 18, began stabbing little girls with a kitchen knife he had taken from his home. Ten others were injured, including dance teacher Leanne Lucas and hero witness Jonathan Hayes, who was stabbed in the leg as he tried to stop Rudakubana.

In a bid to keep their daughters' legacies alive all three parents have set up charitable groups in their daughter's namesakes. Following Elsie's Story and Bebe's Hive, Alice's parents announced they too have set up Alice's WonderDance to 'spread magic' in memory of her love of dancing.
